About This Test
An ultrasound imaging test that uses high-frequency sound waves to create moving pictures of your heart's chambers, valves, walls, and blood vessels. It assesses overall heart function, pumping strength, and valve integrity.
Test Preparation / Instructions
Test Instructions:
Fasting: No fasting is required for a standard transthoracic echocardiogram. You can eat, drink, and take your normal medications as prescribed.
Clothing: You will be asked to undress from the waist up and wear a hospital gown.
